Women’s apparel chain, Bebe Stores Inc., plans to shut the doors to all of their stores in order to focus on web sales, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The company, which operates about 170 stores, is attempting to close it’s doors without filing for bankruptcy. The Bebe company is the latest in a number of companies who have recently closed their doors due to an increase in e-commerce and less foot traffic walking through the door.
Although Bebe has no significant debt, the company has lost $200 million over the past four years, according to the report from Bloomberg. Don’t worry though, this isn’t the end for Bebe. You will still be able to purchase products from the retailer online.
This consumer shift to online shopping has been the reason for companies like HHGregg, RadioShack, American Apparel, Kenneth Cole, Macy’s, JCPenny and more to close a number of their brick-and-mortar stores.
